Pick Up PA - EVENTS Happening NOW

Larry the Litter Lifter Dog - artist and creator Sabrina Wiant - I am an alumna of West Chester University where I studied studio arts with a concentration in ceramics. Art has taken me all over the world, one of my favorite places being Monet’s gardens when I studied abroad. I have always had a passion for art, and a wild imagination that was fostered by my mother growing up. This project embodies imagination and creativity. It has a playfulness, a familiarity, and a commonality. I found that by using the litter to create an animal form, it was relatable. We want to ensure that we keep our world free and clear of litter. The sphere shape (or ball) inside of the dogs mouth symbolizes the earth, and how important it is to keep it clean. The message this project is meant to convey is that in order for us to keep “playing” in this world, and keeping it beautiful, we need to make sure that we keep it litter free. The piece exhibits a small portion of litter found in Chester County, and speaks to the fact that littering has become a growing issue. The more and more we litter, and don’t do anything about it, the less and less we have of the beautiful spaces the world naturally provides.
