The Committee advises the township on the implementation of the Sustainability Plan.  It is charged with creating annual Sustainability Work Plan initiatives as directed by the Township Board of Supervisors.

The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in a public session.

Archived SC agendas and minutes  can be requested from the Township by completing a Right To Know Form and sending to office@westvincenttwp.org.  Your request will be fulfilled within five business days.

Pennsylvania Enters the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (pa.gov).  - April 2022

PA joins Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia.

Some of the benefits of RGGI for Pennsylvania include:

• Reducing up to 225 million tons of carbon pollution from Pennsylvania power plants by 2030
• Preventing up to 30,000 hospital visits for respiratory illnesses like asthma
• An increase in Pennsylvania’s Gross State Product of nearly $2 billion ($250M/year?), and a net increase of 30,000 jobs (4,000 jobs/year?) by 2030

Funds raised from energy plants can be used by the state to further fund clean energy related projects, which could lead to future municipality grant opportunities.

There may also be the possibility for state tax incentives for residents who make clean energy purchases (e.g., solar panels, EVs, geothermal).

For more information, read the

RGGI Fact Sheet.
