Litter Lifters of West Vincent
Committee Bios

Beth Intoccia, Chair (12/31/2025)

Beth grew up near Lake Michigan with 5 siblings, enjoying nature from an early age. Her parents taught the “LEAVE NO TRACE'' principle and respect for the environment. Beth’s interest in volunteerism began 25 years ago as a Girl Scout leader in the OJR school district. For 5 years, she managed the Outdoor Classroom at Vincent Elementary and developed and ran an Earth Day event for the local elementary school. In 2020, Beth started a litter task force “THE LITTER LIFTERS”. She believes protecting open space goes hand-in-hand with keeping the roads, woods and streams free of litter.

Dorothy Lynn (12/31/2025)

Dorothy grew up in Dunmore, PA and spent a lot of time outdoors playing in her yard and the woods behind her house.  She remembers the original Earth Day in 1970 and has been interested in environmental issues ever since.  While living in Germany in the early 2000's, Dorothy saw the benefit of recycling and litter laws.  There is very little litter there.  After retiring and moving to West Vincent, she became a "professional volunteer".  When a neighbor organized a local clean up, she joined in and met many neighbors who are also advocates for keeping our area litter free.   She then met Beth Intoccia - who is the driving force behind the Litter Lifters of West Vincent - and has been a member of the group since its inception.  Dorothy has participated in most of the litter events.  She also developed a spreadsheet to track events and quantify the LLWV value to the community.  She volunteers at Main Line Animal Rescue, Natural Lands and Green Valleys Watershed Association.

Carys Egan (12/31/2025)

Carys grew up in Delaware Water Gap behind the Appalachian Trail. She spent her childhood playing outside and was fortunate to have access to nature and public parks.  Her parents instilled in her the value of community service and caring for the environment.  In addition to volunteering with the Litter Lifters, she serves on the Environmental Advisory Council for West Vincent Township and has coordinated the Amphibian Patrol in early Spring.  She works in education as a school-based counselor and social worker.

Rosalia Provini (12/31/2024)

Rosalia Provini who goes by “Lia” is a behind-the-scenes member of the West Vincent Litter Lifters.  Lia was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States long ago.  She’s a wife, a mother of 2, is bilingual and holds a Masters Degree in Social Services from Bryn Mawr College. She is currently a School Social Worker at PA Leadership Charter School.  She has been a resident of Chester Springs for 24 years.  She has always had a great respect and admiration for beautiful places.  With that admiration comes responsibility and she is committed to keeping this earth and the places she visits litter free.  In Spring of 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, Lia saw a post on Facebook that organized an effort to gather the community in picking up litter and felt compelled to help.  Three years later, the litter lifting has gone from grass roots efforts to full fledged events where volunteers clean our surrounding beautiful community!  Peace of mind is a huge motivator for Lia and seeing our beautiful community litter free brings peace of mind!

Pattie Richards (12/31/2024)

Pattie moved to Chester County 25 years ago and has enjoyed exploring Pennsylvania’s parks and nature trails with family and friends over the years. Before moving to PA, she lived out west in drier, windier conditions and learned early on the negative impact litter had on roadways and open spaces. Plus, commercials for Keep America Beautiful and Smokey the Bear and abundant “No Littering” highway signs with steep fines while growing up further impressed upon her the importance of caring for the environment. While raising and educating her children, they participated in several nature conservancy classes and workshops. For a few years, Pattie was a coach for the PA Envirothon for a homeschool elementary co-op team. She has witnessed through environmental education the eagerness in children to learn about and how to protect our environment – a reward in itself. Pattie joined Litter Lifter events starting in 2022 and appreciates the hard work, comradery, and commitment of the volunteers. Let us continue to Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

Jim Scaperotto (12/31/2024)

Jim grew up in the Overbrook section of West Philadelphia and realized early that spending time outdoors amongst nature was where he found harmony. Many days were spent exploring Morris and Cobbs Creek Parks. Even at a young age, seeing how trash dumping and other litter negatively affected these small natural oases set the foundation for a life long disdain for the impacts that littering has on Penn's Woods and its inhabitants. After spending time living abroad serving in the Armed Forces, Jim returned to the Philly area in 2009. Growing tired of the hustle of city life, Jim moved to Birchrunville in 2016 seeking to live more completely in unison with nature. Jim, a PA Volunteer Forest Steward since 2021, decided to join the Litter Lifters of West Vincent just recently in March 2023 and looks forward to every clean-up event that he can make it to and when not joining the Litter Lifters, he regularly picks up trash and debris along the unpaved portion of French Creek road.
